GP2 drivers like Yas Marina circuit
As part of the official preparations, the drivers are testing their cars on the track this weekend.
Following their first practice session, the drivers had the following to say:
“Combination of the layout, and some very fast corners, very slow corners, a mixture between long straights – it looks very promising in terms of a racing show."
“It’s my first time in Abu Dhabi, it’s nice and sunny. I have a smile on my face, and when you see this very nice track you will understand why."

“The track has fast corners, slow corners like a street circuit, long straights, and hard brakes. My first impression was very good. You can feel the elevation changes – going uphill and you can’t see anything and then downhill you see a great view – albeit like a flash."

“Very fun to drive, corners were tricky, for sure it will be easy for the public to enjoy. It will be very easy to lose the traction on the corners, making it difficult for drivers and very good for the public."

Yas Marina Circuit, located on Yas Island, is one of the most sophisticated and technically advanced motorsport facilities in the world. It is packed with unique and innovative features: Every Grandstand seat is under cover, a first for any Formula 1™ circuit; The Yas Hotel straddles the track, allowing guests to experience the sensation of race cars passing underneath; cars exiting Pit Lane re-enter the circuit via a tunnel; and drivers who miss their braking point at the end of the longest straight in Formula 1 traverse a run-off area beneath the West Grandstand.
The innovative circuit design will also allow grandstand spectators to see at least 30 per cent of the track. Further coverage of the race action will be provided by giant screens around the track, ensuring viewers miss none of the spell-binding twists and turns. Yas Marina adjoins the circuit, offering a stunning backdrop to the on-track action.
