Dennis rules out a return to McLaren’s Formula One team

Ron Dennis has ruled out a return to Formula One with McLaren's new all-British driver line-up, insisting that the company's focus on developing its own range of road cars is essential to its long-term future.

Dennis is leading the scheme, but recently a number of reports had speculated that he favored a return to the role of team principal for McLaren, which will have 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton and 2009 champions Jenson Button driving for it next year.

Dennis ruled out such a move at the Autosport Awards, also saying of the road car project: "It is really a development of the brand. When I look at the achievements of Ferrari and what we intend for McLaren, it is absolutely categorically the right thing for us to plough our own furrow. It is a win-win situation for everyone."
