George & Kalkhoven have no interest in buying money pit IRL

Kevin Kalkhoven: Been there, done that

Two former leaders of U.S. open-wheel racing made it clear Friday they are not interested in organizing a group to try to purchase the Indy Racing League.

Tony George, who founded the IRL in 1996, said rumors to that effect are untrue.

"I said no to the question because I'm not," he said.

Former Champ Car World Series co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven, who recently vacationed with George in Austria, was equally adamant in his denial.

"Been there, done that," he said. Indy Star
