And Americans wonder why they can’t make it in racing?

Simon Pagenaud, Raphael Matos and Graham Rahal – Atlantic drivers in 2006

A reader writes, Dear AutoRacing1.com, I am not surprised that Graham Rahal cannot find sponsorship to race in IndyCar this year. He's only won one race, but more importantly, is he hungry enough? I snapped this photo in the media center at Road America in 2006. Look how Mr. Rahal is slouched over and looking very unprofessional, even in front of the media, while Simon Pagenaud and Raphael Matos sit upright, look professional, and appear to be attentive to what is going on.

Raphael Matos came to America with 10 cents in his pocket and he still has an IndyCar ride. Not because he brought sponsorship, but because he does not act as if racing owes him anything. He is professional and teams and sponsors want drivers like that. At the end of the day they want to back a winner and in Matos, and Pagenaud you get that feeling.

I have seen other "big name" American drivers with the same sloppy attitude/style.
