Rahal gives Bernard the thumbs up

Randy Bernard

Graham Rahal recently gave Randy Bernard his own thumbs up approval, commenting on the impression Randy seems to be making.

"He's what we've needed for years…I've been talking to him and his enthusiasm, energy and ideas are what we've been needing for a long, long time. After talking to him I don't see any downside to him at all. He has a lot of energy, passion and excitement and you can tell that he's done a lot of research because he's suggested to me I call this or that company because they were a sponsor at the Speedway in 1964, for example. From what I can tell he's extremely well-connected and well-respected, which is a huge plus for us."

Bernard has his work cut out for him. Somehow, he has to all but reinvent the IndyCar wheel it seems, with a miniscule TV audience on Versus creating a huge sales and value hurdle for prospective sponsors. Even the IRL press corps is only about 6 full time people.

Right now the cost to run the series or even a team exceeds the actual value. That has to change somehow, and we hope Randy has a plan.

This could be the toughest bull he has ever seen…
