Ferrari begins work on Melbourne
The official Ferrari website wanted to dedicate a special cover to the Scuderia’s one-two win in Bahrain. Next to the Red par excellence, the F10, there are a 458 Italia in white and the green 599 HY-KERS, the lab car presented last week at the Geneva car show: together they form the colors of a perfect Italian flag, celebrating our country’s excellence in technology.
The last members of the team came back from Bahrain last night and now the men and women are concentrated on the preparations for this season’s second Grand Prix, which will be held on Sunday, 28 March in Melbourne, Australia.
This morning the post-race debriefing with the participation of Chairman Luca di Montezemolo was held, with an analysis of the race weekend. It was a very long meeting, where the main technical issues, which came up in Bahrain, were examined.
The team can be satisfied with the one-two win at the first race of the season. But it is also clear that the Championship will be long and difficult. There are still several technical aspects to be cleared, if the team wants to fight till the end. Especially the car’s reliability was again the key to success at the GP. And although the result in Bahrain was the best possible, not everything went smoothly at the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro box.
Another area where the team has to work is the preparation for the qualifying and the start of the race, which seem to be more and more important moments determining the outcome.
Before the Scuderia went back to work they had a little celebration at the Logistics department. “I really wanted to be here to thank and congratulate you for this wonderful one-two win," Chairman Montezemolo said to the men and women from the Scuderia. “I don’t forget where we were last November in Abu Dhabi and this outcome is the result of your work and you can be proud if it. What I enjoyed most was that the rage and the disappointment of the last bad season, triggered such a reaction. The car was well born and we started on the right foot, which should give us the right impulse to continue like this, concentrated on development and reliability. We’ve go to look ahead now and stay on the ground. We have to work with determination and humility. The future of the Championship depends on us, but I know that we’re in good hands: yours."
