Webber escapes penalty
Hometown hero Mark Webber will not be penalized after running into Lewis Hamilton's McLaren in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix. Instead, although FIA race stewards did lay the blame at the door of the Red Bull driver, he receives an official reprimand.
With the Ferrari of World Championship leader Fernando Alonso having been running fourth whilst struggling with grip issues, the Spaniard was caught by both Hamilton and Webber although the latter ran into the back of the McLaren after misjudging his braking point at Turn 13.
No time penalties or grid drops for Malaysia have been applied for Webber by Race Control which, starting this season, consists of one former or current racing driver alongside three other adjudicators – with this weekend the driver being Danish sports car star Tom Kristensen.
