Rain postpones final NHRA rounds

Heavy rains washed out the final rounds at the NHRA Full Throttle Series Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway on Sunday, forcing officials to postpone the on-track action until Monday.

The final four were set in the Top Fuel and Funny Car Divisions, while Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle had yet to run their semi-final rounds before the skies opened up.

Cory McClenathan, the top qualifier in the Top Fuel division, advanced to the final round to face fellow Don Schumacher teammate Antron Brown. Also advancing to the final were Doug Kalitta and Doug Herbert.

The final four in Funny Car will feature DSR teammates Ron Capps and Matt Hagan going up against John Force Racing, with Ashley Force Hood and 14-time Funny Car Champion John Force.

Pro Stock will continue with their second round of eliminations, with Rodger Brogdon, facing off against Bob Yonke, Greg Stanfield, and Rickie Jones. The second four-wide matchup will be Mike Edwards against John Nobile, Allen Johnson, and Jason Line.

In Pro Stock Motorcycle Matt Smith will go up against Hector Arana, David Hope, and Junior Pippin, while the second foursome will be LE Tonglet, Mike Berry, Steve Johnson, and Michael Phillips. Pete McCole/AR1.com
