A Message from Marino Franchitti

Hello everyone,

My career as a racing driver started as a childhood dream which has brilliantly come true, I’m living the life I love and wouldn’t want it any other way, but sadly there are many small children that aren’t as lucky as I was.

I’m speaking of course of the children that are stricken with illness, and most importantly, cancer. CLIC Sargent is a leading charity that supports children and young people, as well as their families, through their terrible ordeal by assisting with nurses, social workers, play therapists, holidays and research as well as giving financial support and advice. Cancer is a deadly disease that seems to strike more frequently at the very core of many families these days, so myself and a group of my fellow racing drivers, have decided to turn our competitive skills to running all 26.2 miles of the London Marathon later this month to see if we can’t raise some money to help this worthy cause.

My fleet of foot colleagues will be names that as motorsport followers, you will be very familiar with – Andy Priaulx, Oliver Gavin, Darren Turner, Jonny Kane, Johnny Mowlem, Rob Barff, Guy Smith, Sean Edwards, Peter Dumbreck, Richard Westbrook, Charlie Hollings and Marc Hynes.

I couldn’t be more fortunate in having your support throughout the year as you follow my race by race fortunes, so it would be great to have your continued support through this next milestone in my career too. It’s such an important cause that I don’t have any inhibitions in asking you to click on the following link:

and kindly make a donation to help these young children through their trauma and bring some fun back into their little lives

It will encourage me too – it’s my first marathon and I’m really looking forward to it.

May I just add that I know several of you reading this have already given and sent some great messages of support all of which can be read online – my sincere thanks to you all.

Very best wishes,

Marino
