Walker Racing is excited to announce that British driver Dan Clarke will pilot the team’s Firestone Indy Lights #40 entry this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dan Clarke was well known for his spirited drives in 2006 and 2007 in the Champ Car World Series. The Brit finished runner-up to Will Power in the rookie of the year standings in 2006 and went on to compete in the series again in 2007. A former BRDC Formula Ford Champion, he will get back to his racing roots when he joins the Walker Racing Indy Lights program this weekend.

With his sights set on the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2011, the Mexborough, Yorkshire native feels that this is the right path for him. “ I couldn’t be more thrilled to join Walker Racing and to be back racing in the USA. Since 2006 I’ve focused my career on the U.S. open wheel scene. After unification I feel my career is back on track and competing this year in the Firestone Indy Lights Series is a great place for me to do it," stated Clarke.

Walker Racing is entering their second year in the Firestone Indy Lights Series. The Indianapolis-based squad had an encouraging start to the 2010 season with driver, Jonathan Summerton. The young American had a memorable drive as he soldiered his way to the front coming from the back of the field due to an early race incident. “Jonathan is still very much in our thoughts. He has repeatedly demonstrated his talent and I hope we get him back in our line-up soon for our second car, " commented Derrick Walker, Walker Racing owner.

Walker couldn’t be happier to have Dan Clarke pilot his entry for the second round of the Firestone Indy Lights championship. “I have always been impressed with Dan’s speed when we raced against him in the Champ Car years. Back in those days the ‘Road to Indy’ was not as clear as it is now, so we share the same objective in racing in the Firestone Indy Lights Series, our aim is the IZOD IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500," continued Walker.
