DB Schenker “Official Freight Logistics Sponsor” for IZOD IndyCar

The Indy Racing League recently announced an extension of its partnership with DB Schenker. As one of the world’s leading logistics providers, with operations in approximately 2,000 locations and 130 countries, DB Schenker is now the “Official Freight Logistics Sponsor" of the IZOD IndyCar Series.

DB Schenker and the IZOD IndyCar Series began working together in 2009 and have agreed to extend the partnership for the next three years. DB Schenker will coordinate logistics of transportation for the series’ four Honda Accord safety cars at events primarily across the United States and Canada in a specially-designed and branded transporter via DB Schenker’s USA operation based in Freeport, N.Y., and the DB SCHENKERsportsevents team.

For the IRL’s first race of its season in Brazil, DB Schenker arranged special international transport by air and ocean to move racecars, the pace cars, safety cars, fuel tanks, tires and all the equipment for the race, which was held March 14 in the streets of Sao Paolo.

In order to move equipment in time for the race, DB Schenker arranged two special 747 air charters to transport most of the equipment and 44 race cars plus space on commercial flights to ship fuel tanks, display cars and special two-seater IndyCars. Several ocean containers filled with tires and other equipment for the race were also shipped for the event.
