Dario says his testing crash at Barber was 78g
We were chatting with Dario Franchitti today, because we had various stories about his crash. He said "I was coming out of turn 11, which is very quick, and I caught just a bit of curb and the car snapped to oversteer on me and I didn't catch it and made about a half turn and hit the barrier at nearly full speed. There were no tires there, and it was quite a shunt. It was a 78g hit. They have some tires there now."
He didn't go into detail, but obviously thinks that some further safety measures need to be taken.
He also said he doubts we will see much, if any passing in tomorrow's race, and pit and tire strategy will be crucial.
It is a gorgeous facility and the track seems to do well enough for other classes of racing, but with the high cornering speeds of high end formula cars, it needs some changes for competitiveness as well.
