Newman to visit with high school students

Ryan Newman

Ryan Newman, winner of last week's Sprint Cup race in Phoenix, will spend part of Friday morning at the Texas Motor Speedway hospitality area interacting with approximately 500 high-school students from the Dallas/Forth Worth area.

Newman, who will drive the No. 39 Army ROTC Chevrolet (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) in Sunday's Samsung Mobile 500 Sprint Cup race, will initially coach a high school team in a relay format competition comprised of three challenges — mission, mental and physical.

Following the Army School Challenge, Newman — a Purdue University engineering graduate — will join other panel members at “Strength For The Future," a unique education program for high school students presented by the U.S. Army.

The Army School Challenge competition and the "Strength For The Future" education program will take place from 9:40 – 10:30 a.m.
