IndyCar copies Champ Car again

IndyCar teams will no longer be able to keep technical secrets from one another following the launch of a new Technical Review Committee, this week's AUTOSPORT magazine reports. The group has been formed by the Indy Racing League in the wake of controversy surrounding Penske, which is understood to have been given permission to run a damper set-up, which other teams believed was illegal, on road courses.

Chip Ganassi Racing, Penske's main rival, led the complaints last weekend in Long Beach.

"We were clearly misled and maybe lied to," said Ganassi managing director Mike Hull. "We were told in August 2008 that ride control could not be used and it was found it would be taken off."

Penske, which has a sister company that specializes in racing dampers and shock absorbers, has stayed quiet on the matter, but IndyCar bosses have now clarified that all proposals put forward by teams will be made available to their rivals, which was done in CART and Champ Car for years.

Given the path the IRL is on, eventually they will get back to what CART was in 1995.
