Renault 3/4 second quicker now
Renault R30 |
Renault F1 Technical Director James Allison has explained that the team's R30 has already improved by three quarters of a second per lap since the start of the 2010 season in Bahrain. After six races, the Enstone squad is a firmly and surprisingly fifth in the Constructors' Championship. Last year marked Renault's worst as a works team since returning to Formula 1 in 2002, with a poor season on-track only blighted by the highly controversial 'Crashgate' race-fixing scandal which resulted in two of the outfit's leading figures making a quick exit.
However, following a buy-out and reshuffles on both a managerial and driver front, the Genii Capital-owned team has impressed many.
"With the latest developments we brought to the car for the Monaco weekend, by around three quarters of a second per lap," Allison said when asked to explain how much the cars of Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov have improved hitherto, adding that the team will be able to keep up with the rate of development.
The short answer is 'yes'," he continued. "We have brought a sizeable update to every race, including Monaco even though it was a back-to-back, and we expect to do the same at every event this year." GPUpdate.net
