Earnhardt team hires Ron Fellows

Ron Fellows, who two years ago drove a JR Motorsports car to victory in the Nationwide Series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, will be back in a JR Motorsports car for at least two of the three road-course races in 2010.

JR Motorsports announced that Fellows will drive the No. 88 car sponsored by AER Manufacturing in the June 19 race at Road America in Wisconsin and the No. 88 car sponsored by Grand Touring Vodka in the Aug. 7 race at Watkins Glen.

The team is still working out its driver and sponsor lineup for the Aug. 29 Montreal race, and Fellows could be in one of the team’s two cars for that event as well.

“It’s great to be back with JR Motorsports this year," the 50-year-old Fellows said. “I’m extremely grateful to AER and GT Vodka for making this program possible. I know we’ll be competitive and able to run up front at these facilities."

Fellows, an accomplished road racer, has six career NASCAR victories – four in the Nationwide Series and two in the Camping World Truck Series. He finished fifth driving for JR Motorsports last year at The Glen and 35th at Montreal.

“We are thrilled to have Ron back with us," said JR Motorsports general manager and co-owner Kelley Earnhardt. “He is an incredible talent behind the wheel, and he will bring a lot of experience and insight to our program. Any time he’s driving, he’s a threat to win." Scenedaily.com
