Allmendinger Wins in Modified Debut

After waiting a day for the weather to clear, AJ Allmendinger wasted no time showing he can win in whatever he drives as he made a winning impression in his debut Modified race on Wednesday night at Berlin Raceway.

Driving for MRN’s Jeff Striegle, AJ was once again in charity mode this week as he carried the colors of the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in his first run on the Michigan track. After claiming the pole, and then getting warmed up with a win in the main, AJ just kept getting faster.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup racer then capped off the night by winning the Modified Main event after taking the lead from Mike Brooks and then holding on to the point for 20 laps to the finish.

“I’m excited to do so well and I’m grateful for the life that I live," said AJ as he celebrated in victory lane. “I didn’t know what to expect, but I had a blast. I’ve been driving a lot of different cars recently and its awesome for me as a driver to see how quickly I can pick something new up. I want to thank the fans for coming back tonight after the rain and hopefully they enjoyed the show. I’m lucky to get to have this much fun while raising awareness for the work that they do at the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital."

AJ headed straight West to the home state of California ahead of this weekends Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway.
