ECR Engines, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing Announce Engine Program
Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty co-drive the No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance Chevrolet-powered Riley. The GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing team earned the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Team and Driver Championships in 2007 and again in 2009. The team is currently fifth in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series Daytona Prototype team point standings after seven of 12 races in 2010.
"ECR, in combination with technical insight from GM Racing, is looking forward to a long relationship with GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing," said Richie Gilmore, general manager of ECR Engines. "Combining NASCAR Cup-level engine technology from ECR with winning car technology from the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing organization will produce a championship-caliber package."
GAINSCO has raced exclusively with GM power since debuting in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series in the spring of 2005, and the team switched to Chevrolet this season after running Pontiac engines since entering the series.
"We look forward to a winning partnership with Chevrolet and ECR and have been very encouraged with the results we have seen to date," said GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing team owner Bob Stallings. "The names Earnhardt and Childress are synonymous with racing excellence, victories and championships and we look forward to using our own team of champions at GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing to help them earn even more motorsports achievements in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series."
