Lola introduce the 2011 Long Wheelbase LMP2 Coupe
The 2011 spec Lola LMP2 Long Wheel Base Coupe was announced today by Lola Cars International Ltd.
Lola engineers have released images of the design that is now being offered to interested parties for next seasons ALMS, LMS and Le Mans 24 Hours.
The B11/80 long wheel base configuration has been implemented to house the range of 2011 spec production GT engines that can include; BMW, Ford, HPD, Jaguar, Judd, Nissan and Toyota units. Some GT engines are longer than the current race engines which has necessitated the increase in the overall length.
Lola’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Martin Birrane, commented “to demonstrate Lola’s commitment and belief in the Coupe product the championship winning B10/80 will also continue to be available but with a limited range of engine options. I am delighted that Lola is once again evidencing its ongoing commitment to Sports Prototype racing, a trend I started in 1998 with the B98/10, with a full compliment of products now available to our customers".
The cabin structure of the Coupe does add additional safety and comfort for drivers and as is traditional with the Lola Coupe the B10/80 and B11/80 will be manufactured in light weight carbon materials
Current and new to Lola teams will be offered access to the Lola customer support centre. This will include full aero maps, trackside spares supply in the LMS and Le Mans 24 Hours, access to engineers, 7-post test rig and wind tunnel model use if required.
The Lola B11/80 will be available at the same price as the current 2010 spec LMP2 Coupe.
