DIS race dates won’t change

Daytona International Speedway president Robin Braig told The News-Journal on Wednesday there is no truth to the speculation the track will have different race dates for either the 2011 Daytona 500 or Coke Zero 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.

A report in the Charlotte Observer said Daytona's 400, traditionally staged on Fourth of July weekend, would be moved to the end of the season and become part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase playoff.

Braig refuted that report.

"We do not have any plans of moving the Coke Zero 400 weekend off of the Independence Day holiday weekend in 2011," Braig said.
