(GMM) Ho-Pin Tung also sustained a back injury in Saturday's GP2 crash. We reported earlier that Jules Bianchi, a development driver under contract with Ferrari, fractured a vertebrae in a nose-to-nose crash at the start of the F1 support-race in Hungary.
It was Renault reserve driver Ho-Pin Tung's car that struck Bianchi, and the Chinese was also airlifted after the crash to the AEK hospital in nearby Budapest.
The Enstone based team confirmed on Sunday that Tung has now had an MRI scan "which confirmed a very small fracture on the lumbar vertebra".
"No surgery is required and his period of recovery is not expected to be an extended one," Renault added, revealing that Tung will stay in hospital until Tuesday.
"A further medical examination is scheduled for two weeks' time to assess his recovery," the statement continued.
