Bernard, de Ferran to answer questions at Mid-Ohio

Fans have opportunities to learn more about the next generation IZOD IndyCar Series car, including the open development of aero kits for the IndyCar Safety Cell, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend.

IZOD IndyCar Series CEO Randy Bernard and de Ferran Dragon Racing managing partner Gil de Ferran, a member of the ICONIC Advisory Committee that determined the future car strategy, will answer questions from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Aug. 7 at the IndyCar Fan Zone Stage in the infield of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

They'll also conduct a Q&A with Indy Downforce members at 10 a.m. on Aug.8 in the Honda Pavilion located just outside the Mid-Ohio's Carrousel corner.

"Eddie Gossage hosted two fan forums on behalf of the ICONIC committee earlier this year that helped guide us in making what we feel is the right decision in going with the IndyCar Safety Cell," Bernard said. "Now that the direction for our next generation IndyCar has been decided, I'm looking forward to hearing the thoughts of our fans and answer any questions they may have about the future of the sport."

The IZOD IndyCar Series unveiled July 14 its new car strategy for the 2012 season and beyond, featuring a rolling chassis with an enhanced safety cell produced by longtime series partner Dallara that will be covered in changeable bodywork created by various manufacturers.
