Montoya’s Win at The Glen is ECR’s First NASCAR Road Course Victory

Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines scored a victory in one of NASCAR's three main touring series for the seventh time in six consecutive weekends when Juan Pablo Montoya took the checkered flag in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

The win by Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing's No. 42 Target Chevrolet team was also ECR's first road course victory in NASCAR competition.

"Congratulations to Juan, Brian (Pattie, crew chief) and the entire Earnhardt-Ganassi organization," said Richie Gilmore, COO of Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines. "They've been running well all season, so it's great to see them get the win at Watkins Glen. All in all, the ECR teams had another strong weekend – in the Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck Series – to continue the streak of solid performances across the board. We're winning races and our teams are also qualifying regularly on the front row in all three series. We just need to keep up the momentum heading into the final few months of the season."

Three other Sprint Cup Series teams powered by ECR Engines finished in the top 11 at The Glen. EGR's Jamie McMurray (No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet), finished sixth, and RCR's Jeff Burton (No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet) and Harvick finished ninth and 11th, respectively.

ECR Engines also boasted three top-six finishes in NASCAR's two other top touring series. Harvick qualified and finished third, driving the Kevin Harvick Incorporated No. 33 Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen. In the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series' Nashville 200 at Nashville Speedway in Lebanon, Tenn., Dillon drove RCR's No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet to a second-place finish and Hornaday finished sixth in KHI's No. 33 Purina/Beneful Chevrolet.

Richard Childress Racing's Kevin Harvick started the winning streak July 3 with a Sprint Cup Series victory at Daytona International Speedway in the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet. RCR's Austin Dillon earned his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win on July 11 at Iowa Speedway in the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet, beginning a streak of four consecutive Truck Series victories for ECR. Harvick took the top spot five days later at the Truck Series race at Gateway International Raceway, driving the Kevin Harvick Incorporated No. 2 Stubb's Legendary Bar-B-Q Chevrolet. KHI teammate Ron Hornaday, Jr., earned the checkered flag in the July 23 Truck Series race at O'Reilly Raceway Park, driving the No. 33 Georgia Boot Chevrolet. EGR's Jamie McMurray drove the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet to victory at the July 25 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Elliott Sadler earned his first NASCAR victory in six years when he drove KHI's No. 2 GT Vodka Chevrolet to victory lane in the July 31 Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway.
