Reader thinks Busch feat a farce

A reader writes, Dear AR1.com, It amazes me that NASCAR is in a media frenzy because Kyle Busch won the NASCAR Truck Race, the Nationwide Race and the Sprint Cup race. They act like it is a great accomplishment rarely seen in motorsports. Well it is rarely seen in motorsport, and for good reason. In Champ Car you couldn't compete in Atlantics if you lost your rookie status. In F1 you can't compete in GP-2 or GP-3 if you compete in the Formula 1 Championship. People in Moto GP don't compete in 125cc or Moto2. There are many more examples. Why is it that Sprint Cup competitors are allowed to compete (read: shoot fish in a barrel) in the feeder series? What is it about NASCAR fans that allow this? Mark Bartlett

Dear Mark, The Nationwide and Truck Series would die quickly if the Cup drivers did not compete. The France family keeps them going this way to keep sponsors tied up under their umbrella so they are not available to other forms of racing. Their goal is to monopolize USA motorsports (like the NFL, NBA, MLS, MLB, etc.) and if you tie up all the sponsors in their 4 series (Grand-Am, Trucks, Nationwide, and Cup) you take away the lifeblood of the other series and they die a slow death. So every year you will see certain Cup drivers in these series to keep them alive (fans follow these series because of them) and keep the tourniquet tight around the neck of everyone else. Mark C.
