Ninth engine for Massa

After failing to complete even one flying lap in qualifying ere at the Singapore street circuit yesterday, Ferrari driver Felipe Massa will start this evening’s fifteenth round of the 2010 season with a brand new engine and gearbox.

Because he will be starting from the back of the grid anyway, the Maranello based squad opted to change both his engine and gearbox to give him the best possible chance of fighting back through this evening’s race.

However, this will be Massa’s ninth engine this season, one more than the allowed eight and will need to last him for the rest of the season, or else he will face a ten place grid drop, unless of course he is in the same position and starting from the back of the grid anyway and a demotion wont mean anything.
