Hülkenberg also handed 20-second penalty
Williams’ Nico Hülkenberg has become the second driver to receive a post-race penalty of 20-seconds in Singapore, dropping the German down to tenth position.
Having crossed the finish line ninth, the 2010 rookie was promoted to eighth when Adrian Sutil’s Force India was given an identical penalty for gained an advantage by running off the race track at Turn 7.
This was followed by a protest against Hülkenberg from Force India, claiming that the 2009 GP2 Champion also cut a corner, which the Silverstone-based team has now withdrawn following the stewards’ decision.
This latest development means that Force India in fact stays ahead of Williams in their ongoing battle for sixth in the Constructors’ Championship, with it having looked as though the pair were tied following Sutil’s penalty.
