di Montezemolo happy with F1 team’s comeback

Luca di Montezemolo has stressed that Ferrari’s recent pace is due to nothing more than much hard graft, both at circuits and its Maranello base, after a strong start to the campaign which was followed by a mid-season dip in form.

Following Fernando Alonso’s season-opening victory in Bahrain over half a year ago, the Scuderia would not win again until their controversial success at Hockenheim in late July; this has since been followed by double successes for the Spaniard in Italy and Singapore.

“These wins are down to the work of the team and have not just dropped out of the sky through luck," company Chairman di Montezemolo commented on the team website.

“Everyone, from the people on the pit wall to the pit-stop crew, those in the garage, the people here in the factory and the drivers out on-track, have all made a positive contribution.

“I am proud to be your President and I am pleased for (Team Principal) Stefano Domenicali and all his people, who never gave up when things seemed very difficult.

“This is the team I want – made up of people who go about their work quietly, who do not get downhearted when facing difficulties and who keep their feet firmly on the ground when things go well again."
