Rosberg: I hope the asphalt holds up in Korea

Mercedes man Nico Rosberg fears the newly laid asphalt at the Korea International Circuit might not ‘hold up’ next weekend when the 5.621 kilometer track hosts its first ever round of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

The circuit only got the official green light on Tuesday this week – following a two-day track inspection by FIA Formula 1 Race Director and Safety Delegate Charlie Whiting, and while Rosberg is enthusiastic about the event, it seems he has he reservations too.

"It will be an exciting challenge to race at the new Korean circuit. It looks great from the pictures that we have seen and I hope that the asphalt holds up as it has only been put down very recently," he said.

“It is always interesting to learn a new circuit and generally I get up to speed quickly so I'm looking forward to it."
