NASCAR Texas TV Ratings

UPDATE ESPN’s live telecast of the AAA Texas 500 on Sunday drew a final 2.9 national rating, down 22 percent from the 3.7 rating on ABC last year for the November race from Texas Motor Speedway. Despite Denny Hamlin winning the race to take over the points lead in the Chase For The Sprint Cup and a fight between Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton, ESPN’s ratings during the Chase continued a sharp decline. Ratings for all races in the 2010 Chase have been down, with six of the eight having dropped more than 20 percent. The race averaged 4.85 million viewers.

11/09/10 The AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway earned a 2.7 with a 5 share televised on ESPN. That is down 16% from last year's 3.2/6 which aired on ABC. AND ESPN's live telecast of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, Nov. 7, earned a final national household coverage rating of 3.4 (2.9 U.S.), averaging 4,845,820 viewers, according to the Nielsen Company. Last year's race aired on ABC and earned a 3.7 rating (5.83 million viewers). ESPN2's live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Texas on Saturday, Nov. 6, earned a 1.1 final national household coverage rating, up from a 0.9 for last year's race that also aired on ESPN2.
