Bortolotti, Zampieri lose Ferrari places

Mirko Bortolotti and Daniel Zampieri have lost their places in the Ferrari Driver Academy.
The two Italians were among the young driver development scheme's first recruits, along with Jules Bianchi, last year, but Ferrari says it will not be continuing with its support for them.

Bortolotti first came to Ferrari's attention when he set an impressive pace during his Formula 1 prize test after winning the Italian Formula 3 Championship in 2008. He spent this season in GP3, but only took one podium finish. Zampieri, Bortolotti's successor as Italian F3 champion, was ninth in this year's Formula Renault 3.5 Series.

As well as Bianchi, Ferrari has also added new Sauber F1 signing Sergio Perez to the FDA for 2011. Other members include karter Lance Stroll and Formula ACI-CSAI Abarth champion Brandon Maisano, while Brazilian Nicola Costa recently won an FDA course by claiming the Felipe Massa-backed Formula Future Fiat title in his homeland.
