McLaren extends ExxonMobil partnership

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has confirmed a five-year extension to its agreement with oil and gas company ExxonMobil. The pair will be entering a 17th year as partners in the sport, with McLaren set to benefit further from ExxonMobil’s world-leading synthetic motor oil, as well continued support at Grand Prix events from the American-based company.

"Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and ExxonMobil are at the cutting edge of automotive technology," Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh said after the renewal was announced. "Along with the other products used in our racing cars, Mobil 1 fully synthetic motor oil and lubricant technology help us meet the challenges of the race, weekend after weekend, enabling us to maximize our performance each and every time.

"Innovation is the key to success in this endeavor, and over the course of our long relationship with ExxonMobil we have enjoyed great results because we share a determination to innovate."

Nigel Searle, Vice President of Global Marketing for ExxonMobil added: "The renewal of the Mobil 1 technology partnership between ExxonMobil and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes represents a commitment to excellence and achievement by two global and like-minded organizations.

"We view the technology partnership with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes as a high-return investment that helps drive the global growth of our Mobil 1 franchise, and we look forward to continuing our successful collaboration."
