IndyCar Long Beach TV Ratings

Versus last Sunday aired the Izod IndyCar Series Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, averaging 323,000 viewers, down 34% from 490,000 viewers for the race last year, also on Versus. Randy Bernard probably did not like it when we called Versus a noose around IndyCar's neck, but that's pretty much what it is. Two races on Versus this year and both had significantly lower ratings.

As of September 1, 2010, there are an estimated 115.9 million television households in the United States. A single national ratings point represents one percent of the total number, or 1,159,000 households for the 2010–11 season. Each rating point is usually worth 1.38 million viewers in America. So 323,000 viewers = a national TV rating of 0.23 for Long Beach.
