$7 Million Speedway Project Wraps Up
The project is one part of a $500 million plan that Speedway leaders hope will revitalize the town. Speedway Redevelopment Commission President Scott Harris believes the overall investment will have an economic impact of $5.2 billion over its first 10 years. Harris says the improvements will also lead to a safer experience for the hundreds of thousands of people coming into town for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
The wrapping up of the Main Street project follows last year's announcement by racecar manufacturer Dallara that it will spend $7 million to build a production facility in Speedway to build new chassis for the IZOD IndyCar Series. That plant will be the company's only facility outside of Italy. Source: Speedway Redevelopment Commission, Inside Indiana Business
