Pedrosa hurt again

UPDATE Immediately following yesterday's race, Dani Pedrosa returned to Barcelona with the X-ray scans from the Le Mans circuit medical centre. He visited his doctors at Teknon Medical Centre and further medical tests confirmed a clean break of the right collarbone.

Pedrosa spent the night in the hospital, immobilized with a compressive dressing, and will decide in the next few days if he will undergo surgery to repair the fracture with a new plate or let the bone heal itself without intervention. In either case, his presence in the Grand Prix of Catalunya, to be held on June 5th, is uncertain.

Dani Pedrosa

05/16/11 A bitter Dani Pedrosa has broken his right collarbone after an incident with Marco Simoncelli during the French Grand Prix on Sunday. The Spaniard failed to slow down in time when Simoncelli turned in at Chemin aux Boeufs, leading to contact before Pedrosa was thrown off his bike in the surrounding gravel trap.

"I was having a good race, the goal was to ensure another podium and I had it in my grasp," the Repsol Honda rider explained. “Now it counts for nothing. Simoncelli overtook me, I passed him back and I had the better line.

"He just came into me, releasing the brakes and I could do nothing. I leave here with a broken collarbone and he with a ride through penalty, good for him!

"Yet again I come out worse off. We only just recovered from the nightmare of the last operation and now I’m hurt again. It is very unfair, I don’t deserve it."

"I saw the problem between Marco and Dani just one time, but for me, this time Simoncelli was riding too hard," Valentino Rossi said. "He didn't leave space for Dani. Coming from the outside, maybe he was braking harder, but maybe a bit too aggressive because Dani didn't have any room to do anything.

"I think it's also a mistake because I think Simoncelli at that part of the race was getting strong, so maybe don't overtake Dani at that braking point – overtake Dani on the next lap."
