NASCAR All-Star race TV Rating
During the race, SPEED was the highest-rated basic cable network in Households, Men 35-54, and M55+; and the No. 2-rated basic cable network among M18-34 and M18-49.
The ratings increase, despite on-site technical issues during driver introductions which delayed the start of the race by 30 minutes, was driven in large part by tremendous growth in the coveted Men 18-34 demographic, where coverage area ratings were up 58% (1.26 vs. .80) from 2010 and the highest for the event in three years. A similar trend has been evident for FOX’s NASCAR Sprint Cup racing this season. Through 11 races, NASCAR on FOX has witnessed increased ratings in all key male demographics, none higher than the 19% improvement in Men 18-34 (1.9 vs. 1.6)
SPEED pre- and post-race programming also scored increases, as the team of John Roberts, Kyle Petty and Larry McReynolds steered a special three-hour edition of NASCAR RaceDay to a 4% increase (.77 vs. .74) year-to-year and NASCAR Victory Lane to an impressive 45% increase (1.52 vs. 1.05), posting the show’s highest rating ever.
On Friday, SPEED coverage of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Charlotte scored a .98, up 42% from last year’s rain-delayed .69 and is the highest rating from Charlotte since 2008. Race coverage peaked at 1.30 HH rating and averaged more than one million viewers.
This marks the fourth consecutive NCWTS race to score a year-to-year ratings increase (Martinsville +4%, Nashville +18%, Dover +26%). Ratings for the series are up 7% overall versus last year at this point (what vs. what?)
Next up for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on SPEED – June 4 at Kansas Speedway, where the series will celebrate its 400th race. NCWTS Setup with Krista Voda begins at 1:30 p.m. ET and race coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET. SPEED also will air coverage of NCWTS qualifying at 11 a.m. ET.
