Tagliani will log lots of mileage promoting Quebec race

This is how you define having racing in your blood: Alex Tagliani crashed out of Sunday’s 100th anniversary running of the Indianapolis 500 when he kissed the wall on the 147th of 200 laps, having made history as the first Canadian to start from the pole.

On Tuesday, the 38-year-old from Lachenaie, Que., will fly to Calgary for a promotional pit stop to talk up the July 24 Edmonton Indy, which he’ll race.

Tuesday night, Tagliani will board a flight to Montreal for a Wednesday news conference in Mirabel, Que., where he’ll promote next weekend’s NASCAR Canadian Tire Series stock-car event, which he’ll run at Circuit iCar on the apron of the former passenger airport.

There’ll be another day of radio and television promotion in Montreal on Thursday. Then, three days of practice, qualifying and the race itself in Mirabel.

Tagliani’s work Sunday behind the wheel at Indianapolis, which classified him 28th of 33 starters, was witnessed live at the speedway by hundreds of thousands and by millions more on global television.
