Dawn Breaks in chaos at Le Mans
It was a chilly night with temperatures dropping as low as 5.5C but the cold air suits the engines and the leading #2 Audi is doing 3:29.820 sec just 0.149 secs faster than the lead Peugeot. The lead swapping with the pit stops. Even so the pendulum may just be swinging the way of Peugeot.
There have been many retirements during the night and just eight LM P1 cars are still running. It was 06:06hrs that started a dangerous period because suddenly we lost #58 Luxury Racing Ferrari 458 Italia crashed, #59 Luxury Racing Ferrari 458 Italia stopped in the Porsche Curves and then #48 Team Oreca Matmut crashed when running 2nd in LM P2. This brought out the safety car for the fourth time. Finally by 06:32hrs racing began again .
As the green flag was waved the #61 AF Corse Ferrari went off backwards into the wall at Porsche Curves. This is carnage!
