Rubens Barrichello says he is completely focused on retaining his place on the Formula 1 grid, revealing that Williams now has the option to extend his contract at any time. The Brazilian has responded to reports questioning his future, but the 11-time Grand Prix winner insists that he would like to prolong his career at the Grove squad.
"I saw some news saying that I wanted to stop racing…makes me laugh really," Barrichello said via his personal Twitter account. "All I want is to carry on racing. (We are) working double hard to have a good car for next year.
"Problems do exist and we are here to solve them. Williams need me as much as I need them."
The Brazilian went on to explain that he has already offered his services to the team for another two terms, with a contract renewal the firm target this year.
"To be honest I told Williams that if they offered me a 2 years contract that I would sign right now," he added.
