Gulf Racing announces 2-car LMP2 team

UAE-entered Gulf Racing has announced a two-car Lola LMP2 effort for the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship.

Fabien Giroix heads the team's efforts with partners Jean-Pierre Valentini and Frederic Fatien. Fatien was announced as one of the team's drivers.

Gulf has bases both in the UAE at the Dubai Autodrome, while it will also run its WEC program from its existing base in Magny-Cours, France.

The team ran the full 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup schedule with Giroix, Michael Wainwright and Roald Goethe in an Aston Martin Vantage in the GTE Am category. However, the majority of the season was spent fighting mechanical issues with several non-starts in ILMC rounds.

The announcement comes on the heels of Le Mans Series LMP2 class champions Greaves Motorsport confirming a dual WEC/LMS effort for the 2012 season.
