F1600 Expands Schedule for 2012
“With an expanded schedule for 2012 we have responded to our competitors requests with more choices, more tracks, more racing and better spacing of events. In 2011 we originally scheduled four, increased that to five, and the feeling was more is better," said Michael Rand, Series managing director.
The Series will keep its points rules, dropping the lowest two scores for each driver before compiling the final standings.
The expanded schedule is a response from a season-ending survey sent out by Series officials, along with the incredibly strong support the first year Championship received from leading teams, Formula F competitors and manufacturers over the course of 2011.
For the F1600 contingent, Road Atlanta, New Jersey and Summit Point will mark new race tracks, with VIR, Lime Rock, Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen all being visited in 2011.
A large established grid of Formula F cars sharing both Honda and Ford engines is expected to take to the track at every event. Chassis manufacturers Mygale and Spectrum are expected to expand their Formula F support in 2012.
