Ferrari stresses it must improve wind tunnel

Stefano Domenicali has admitted his worries over the Ferrari wind tunnel, which has been known to have problems over the past two years. At Suzuka on Friday, the Team Principal even hinted that it could be the Italian team’s downfall this year.

“Out structure is not the best, in that respect," he said when questioned about the wind tunnel, with Ferrari having used the old Toyota wind tunnel before last season.

“It’s quite old and we’re trying to improve the quality of it; we really do need to improve the correlation (between wind tunnel and track) and we should be able to for next season. Over the next few weeks we will be using other facilities, so we will shut down our own wind tunnel to improve things to the maximum."

Once again, the cars of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa carried thick amounts of high-visibility aerodynamic paint when practice took place in Japan on Friday.
