Conor Daly wins round 5 in India
American Conor Daly won round five of the MRF Challenge 2012 Championship being run at the Buddh International Circuit in Delhi, India this morning, Sunday, December 2nd. Having qualified on the pole during the weekend's only qualifying session on Friday, Daly took command of the race right from the green lights, pulling away to a three second cushion when a pace car took control of the field during an accident clean up. When the race restarted Daly pulled away from the field winning by 3.4 seconds and scoring maximum championship points.
The grid positions for round six on Sunday afternoon saw the top six finishers from race five inverted, putting Daly sixth off the start line. While challenging for third place with two laps to go Daly and British driver, Hector Hurst made contact; both cars were eliminated. Daly's points haul for the weekend vaulted him into second place in the championship just one point behind the leader, Jordan King.
The next rounds of the championship will be held in January 2013 at the Madras Motor sports Club, in Chennai, India.
