Roger Penske: NASCAR team had no deal in Richmond race
NASCAR placed both Penske Racing and Front Row on probation last week for "actions detrimental to stock car racing" after radio chatter surfaced in which Frank Kerr, Front Row crew chief for David Gilliland, intimated the team would receive a reward for allowing Logano to gain a spot on Gilliland. There was no traffic on Logano's radio channel indicating an arrangement.
"I don't know all the details," Penske said. "I didn't see all the facts. We obviously didn't do anything, quite honestly. At the end of the day, what I heard that the crew chief on whatever car it was made all this big noise … we didn't have any deal at all.
"But that's how people role-play stuff here in NASCAR. I think it worked out for everybody and we're moving on."
