Chevrolet SS to Pace 56th Daytona 500

Chevrolet unveiled today the trio of vehicles that will pace NASCAR’s opening round of events at Daytona International Speedway this weekend.
- 2014 Chevrolet SS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500
- 2014 Camaro SS 1LE in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Drive4COPD 300
- 2014 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy 250
All three vehicles sport vibrant red paint schemes designed for this weekend’s events.
“Chevrolet is proud to be a part of NASCAR’s season-opening events by pacing all of the races at Daytona International Speedway," said Jeff Chew, Marketing Manager for Chevrolet Racing. “This will mark Chevrolet’s 11th time pacing the Daytona 500, and we are privileged to continue this heritage and our partnership with Daytona International Speedway again this year."
The 2014 Chevrolet SS is the first rear-wheel drive performance sedan for Chevrolet since 1996. The Chevrolet SS is equipped with a 6.2L V-8 engine and is rated at SAE-certified 415 hp (310 kW), with paddle-shift six-speed automatic transmission.
The 2014 Camaro SS 1LE was built for the track, and is characterized by performance. Under the hood is a 6.2 V-8 with 426 hp, and the eye-catching model is easily recognized with its unique graphics and multiple color options.
The 2014 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab is all new hood to hitch. The all new Silverado 1500 Crew Cab comes equipped with the Max Towing Package, which offers trailering ratings of up to 12,000 pounds, which is more than any light-duty pickup currently on the market. Earlier this week, Chevrolet debuted its redesigned 2014 Silverado race truck in the Fan Zone and on the track at Daytona International Speedway.
This season in NASCAR competition, Chevrolet is campaigning the Chevrolet SS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Camaro in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
The Silverado pace truck will lead the field on Friday February 21. The Camaro SS 1LE will pace on Saturday February 22. The Chevrolet SS will guide the field for the 56th running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday February 23.
