Asian TV deal for IndyCar
Pan-Asian broadcaster Outdoor Channel has signed a deal with ESPN to show action from the IndyCar series and X Games events.
The network becomes the exclusive pan-regional broadcaster of IndyCar in Southeast Asia and parts of the wider Asia-Pacific region.
As part of the multi-year agreement, Outdoor Channel and ESPN will jointly promote and market the series, as well as X Games action sports events in Austin and Aspen, across the region.
The contract covers Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Palau, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
According to an official release, ‘the deal is exclusive pan-regionally, though allows for individual country-by-country deals to co-exist.’
“We are pleased to be able to announce the cooperation with ESPN, which we hope will be the first of many collaborations in Asia-Pacific," said Gregg Creevey, the managing director of Multi Channels Asia.
“Both IndyCar and X Games have tremendous following in the US and globally and present enormous potential for growth in the Asia-Pacific region."
