Indianapolis Nationwide race gets Lilly as the sponsor

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Eli Lilly and Company announced a multi-year agreement in which Lilly will be the title sponsor of the annual NASCAR Nationwide Series race at IMS, now known as the Lilly Diabetes 250. Scheduled for Saturday, July 26, the Lilly Diabetes 250 will be run on the famed IMS 2.5-mile oval and will take place during the third-annual Kroger Super Weekend. Previous IMS Nationwide Series race winners include Brad Keselowski in 2012 and Kyle Busch last year.

This title sponsorship goes hand-in-hand with Lilly's mission of raising awareness about diabetes in Indiana and across the world. The event will serve as an ideal platform to support those affected by diabetes, as well as provide education about this rampant disease. A leader in diabetes care for more than 90 years, Lilly delivers an array of treatment options as well as a variety of programs and resources that can help people overcome the daily challenges of managing diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects approximately 382 million people worldwide and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) predicts that by 2030, that figure will grow to 592 million people.

Kroger Super Weekend at IMS will include the Lilly Diabetes 250 Nationwide Series race and NASCAR Sprint Cup practice and qualifying on Saturday, July 26. Thursday will feature TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practice and qualifying; and NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series practice and TUDOR United SportsCar Championship racing will take place on Friday. The weekend will conclude on Sunday, July 27 with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 21st annual Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400.
