V8 Supercars Taking Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport To Court Over Disputed Franchise Sale
The sale of V8 Supercars remaining team franchises "has taken a twist with the category reportedly bringing legal proceedings against Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport," according to SPEED. The former two-car team "slimmed down to one over the off-season," one of three operations to surrender a Racing Entitlements Contract to V8 Supercars.
The sport’s management announced in June that "it was going to find buyers for the three available RECs, which guarantee a team a spot on the V8 grid, by putting them out to tender." It had been reported that LDM was threatening to put up a legal challenge to the tender process "as it tries to expand back to a two car effort for the 2015 season."
A statement said, "The purported sale greatly inhibits the team’s planning and ability to field a two (2) car team for the 2015 V8 Supercar Championship, and LDM intends to vigorously defend the proceedings."
