Wolff to run Race of Champions

Susie Wolff will become the first female to compete in the Race of Champions.

Williams' Formula 1 development driver Susie Wolff has signed up for this year's Race of Champions in Barbados.

Wolff, who has made two grand prix free practice appearances this year with the Grove team, will be the first female racer to compete in the end-of-year event.

"I have a full-time job at Williams, which is great, but nothing can replace the adrenaline of racing and I can't wait to get that back," said Wolff.

"So I'm proud to have been chosen to take part in the Race of Champions and I'm looking forward to racing against some of the top-rated drivers in the world.

"Of course those will be hard guys to beat but as a driver you always want to do the best job you can.

"Still, I don't yet have any particular expectations because I've never competed at a ROC event before.

"I've never been to Barbados before either but the middle of December is not exactly the worst time to leave for a sunny destination."

The Race of Champions takes place at the Bushy Park circuit in Barbados on December 13-14.

The list of drivers confirmed for the event so far include Lotus racer Romain Grosjean, Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen and Indianapolis 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay. AutoSport
