Ferrari 458 Italia successor going turbo

Over these past few months, we have written about a successor of the Ferrari 458 Italia considering the fact that the supercar has been in production for 5 years and it seems that the company will apply the same recipe for this model as it did with the California T. This basically means that the supercar will be getting a turbocharged engine which will be based on the 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 unit found on the front mid-engined, rear-wheel drive vehicle.

The new two-seater, which is internally known as the 142M, will be using the same aluminum platform currently found on the 458 models but it will be more powerful thanks to the new engine. The unit will have less than 4.0 liters in displacement and it will be comparable to newer vehicles in the segment, such as the McLaren 650S, with its 641 HP (471 kW), or the Lamborghini Huracan, which is coming with 602 HP (449 kW). The current 458 Italia has a 4.5 liter V8 engine under its hood, producing “just" 562 HP (419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. Autocar
