Jon Field Sentenced to Prison for Tax Evasion

Former American Le Mans Series champion Jon Field has been sentenced to prison on tax evasion charges.

Field recently pleaded guilty to conspiracy to file false income tax returns, following his involvement in the family-owned Cadillac Ranch restaurant chain.

According to a report in the Marion Star, the Ohio native has been sentenced to five months, seven days in prison, as well as three years of probation and three months of home confinement. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay $174,458 in restitution.

A report by the Department of Justice said that Field falsified income tax returns and underreported the amount of income he earned for his business ventures between 2006 and 2010.

Field, his brother Joel, along with business partners Eric Schilder and Paul Butler all pled guilty in May, with sentencing for Joel to follow next week.

Field owned and operated Intersport Racing, one of the longest-running privateer teams in the ALMS, which collected numerous wins and championships, as well as LMP2 class victory in the 2004 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The team, which was formed by the Field’s in 1998, closed its doors at the end of the 2011 season. sportscar365.com
